Call for Abstracts

Call for Abstracts is now closed. Authors will be advised of the outcome end of March.

Abstracts are invited for the ZERO National Symposium, being held at the Rydges World Square, in Sydney NSW, from the 8-9th May 2024.

Submissions may cover any aspect of childhood cancer care and control including research, innovative program delivery, data management, and education and policy development. All professional disciplines are encouraged to submit.

Submissions include the option to present in-person or virtually.  

KEY STEPS

STEP 01

Submit your abstract by 11 March 2024 through the online submission portal.

All abstracts must be submitted online and uploaded as a word document by the presenting author. Follow the abstract guidelines to ensure your submission meets all requirements.

Select the option to be considered for an Oral and/or a Poster Presentation and indicate if you will be presenting in-person in Sydney, or virtually. Presentations may be considered for a Rapid-Fire Presentation


STEP 02

Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email of your submission.  

If you have not received your confirmation email within an hour of submission, please contact the conference secretariat at conference@aacb.asn.au. 



STEP 03

From 25 March - authors will be advised of their outcome.

You will be sent a confirmation email with details of your presentation outcome. Oral and Rapid-Fire Presenters will be required to confirm their acceptance.

STEP 04

Register by 19 April 2024.

Early bird registration closes 5th April 2024

All presenters are required to register. 

If you have not registered by 19 April your submission may be removed from the program. 

STEP 05

Prepare your presentation / poster

Follow the guidelines and due dates provided in your presentation confirmation email.  

Presentation categories and guides will also be available on the website. 


Abstract Submission Guidelines

All abstracts must be submitted through the online portal and uploaded as a word document.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • DOWNLOAD THE ABSTRACT TEMPLATE before you begin.
  • Ensure you include all the information requested on the abstract.
  • Abstracts must be typed in English. 
  • Title has a limit of 30 words.
  • Body of abstract has a limit of 250 words.
  • Abstracts must be uploaded as a word document using the correct format, using the abstract template.
Online submission form: 
  • Input title and presenting author and affiliations.
  • Indicate presentation type: Oral or Poster. 
  • Include a short 100 word biography of the presenting author.
  • Indicate if you will be presenting in-person or virtually
  • Select career profile category eg. PhD student, early career researcher, mid-career researcher
  • Complete the authorisation and conflict of interest questions.

Note: If your abstract was selected but was not successful for an oral presentation, you will be offered a Poster presentation. Any submitted abstracts may also be considered for a Rapid-Fire presentation.

Format & Content

Main body of abstract

250 words

The following structure may be followed:

  • Background: a clear statement about why the study was done
  • Aim/hypothesis/research question
  • Methods
  • Results: sample size (even in qualitative research), include data - avoid saying data will be presented
  • Discussion/Conclusion: a concluding statement of outcome/significance

Abstract Acknowledgement

A confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your abstract submission will be automatically emailed to you once you have completed the online abstract submission. If you do not receive this confirmation email, or wish to make changes to a submitted abstract, please contact the Conference Secretariat.

Please note that all correspondence will be sent to the e-mail address from which the submitted abstract was received. All presenters will be required to register for the meeting and have paid the registration fee.

Publication of Abstracts

Successful abstracts will be provided to delegates on the meeting app and virtual portal.
By submitting an abstract you are consenting to the publication of your abstract, if accepted, in these publications.
