Call for Abstracts now closed


On behalf of the Australasian Society of Diagnostic Genomics, we invite you to join us in Canberra, ACT NZ for the 2026 Interim Scientific Meeting being held from the 17 - 19 April 2026.

ASDG is proud to be a special interest group of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA). The theme for the meeting is 'Harmony, Diversity, Equality' which will showcase current experts and emerging leaders of diagnostic genomics in Australasia. We encourage and welcome abstract submissions from all areas of cytogenetics and molecular genetics, encompassing a broad range of topics to maximise benefits for all delegates.

Abstract Submission

All abstracts must be submitted online. The abstract must be submitted as a word document and should not exceed 300 words - a 'word document template' has been provided to assist you in following the format.

Authors will be notified of the status of their submission from 19 December 2026. All presenters will be required to register for the meeting and have paid the registration fee; the Early Bird registration closes 31 January 2026.

Please note that the space available for presentations is limited and preference will be given to papers of the highest quality as judged by the Local Organising Committee.

Presentation Options

While you will be asked to indicate your preferred presentation format, the program committee may request an alternative format be considered. The committee will allocate presentations to the program taking into account the preference of authors and the balance of the program.

Submitted presentations types include:

  • Oral Presentation: It is anticipated oral presentations will be allocated 15 minutes for presentation, including 2 minutes for question time.
  • Oral Presentation + Ed Krumins Award : ASDG would like to invite eligible authors to submit their oral presentation for consideration for the Ed Krumins Award.  Please check here to confirm your eligibility for this award. It is anticipated oral presentations will be allocated 15 minutes for presentation, including 2 minutes for question time.
  • Oral Presentation + Early Career Award: The award aims to encourage early career ASDG members to present at the ASDG ISM on an activity contributing to the improvement of diagnostic practice - for example translational research, development of an education program with proven outcomes, bioinformatics pipeline development or improvement, a case audit/series or quality management activity with learnings that improve diagnostic practice.
  • Display Poster : An A0 portrait size poster that will be displayed for the duration of the Conference. The abstract and a PDF of each accepted poster will be included in the conference app, for delegates to view and download.  Presenters will also be asked to attend their poster during a specified viewing session to discuss the work with other delegates.
  • Display Poster + ASDG Poster Prize : Candidates will be expected to give a short 2-minute explanation of their poster and/or be available to answer any questions arising from it. Please check here to confirm your eligibility for this award.

Display Poster Measurements - No larger than A0 Portrait format 

A0 Size, Portrait: 840 mm wide x 1180 mm high

To ensure good legibility of the poster, we recommend portrait orientation and a maximum size of 84 cm in width and 118 cm in length.

Velcro or pins will be provided to adhere your poster to the boards.

Review Process

The Scientific Committee will review all submitted abstracts.

As there are limited places for oral presentations, some abstracts submitted for oral presentation may be offered posters. Authors in these cases will be advised and asked to confirm whether they wish to present a poster.

Abstract Acknowledgement

A confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your abstract submission will be automatically emailed to you once you have completed the online abstract submission. If you do not receive this confirmation email, please contact the Conference Secretariat.

NOTE: If you wish to edit your submitted abstract/s, please email the updated abstract to conference@aacb.asn.au.

Please note that all correspondence will be sent to the e-mail address from which the submitted abstract was received.

Publication of Abstracts

Successful abstracts will be provided to delegates on the Conference APP. 
By submitting an abstract you are consenting to the publication of your abstract, if accepted, in the Conference App which is made available to all registered delegates.
