The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) is Australia’s national audiovisual cultural institution who collect, preserve and share Australia’s audiovisual culture.  Refurbished to provide spaces for conferences, events and symposiums, the NFSA collection began in 1935, making it one of the first audiovisual archives in the world (some individual collection items date back to the 1890s).

Old Parliament House, formerly known as the Provisional Parliament House, was the seat of the Parliament of Australia from 1927 to 1988. Since 2009, Old Parliament House has become a museum about the building and Australian democracy more broadly, named the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House (MoAD). 

For those attending Sunday April 19 at Old Parliament House with luggage, there will be space to store your luggage in the conference room while attending the debate in the House of Representatives. Please ensure you register to attend the debate at the same time as processing your conference registration.

The Local Organising Committee have arranged 2 Coach Trips to Old Parliament House (one way), collecting from QT Hotel. The first trip is scheduled for 8:45am, the second trip is scheduled for 9:15am. Please RSVP for the trips when registering for the conference.

Getting to NFSA

Dedicated visitor parking is available on the NFSA premises between McCoy Circuit and Ellery Crescent (paid parking Monday to Friday, up to three hours). There are six accessible parking spaces across two car parks, both off McCoy Circuit. 

There is also limited, timed street parking on Liversidge Street.

We recommend considering public transport in peak times.

DROP-OFF 

There is a 15-minute free parking zone in front of the McCoy Circuit entrance for pick-ups and drop-offs. There is also a drop-off point on Liversidge Street. 

TRAVELLING BY BUS

Route 53 runs between Dickson Shops and the National Museum of Australia seven days a week (fewer services on weekends and public holidays). Alight at Liversidge Street (stop 3487) at the rear entrance to the NFSA.

All regular routes connect with at least two rapid routes to help customers making longer journeys.

TRAVELLING BY LIGHT RAIL

The NFSA is a 15- to 20-minute walk from the Alinga Street light rail interchange in Canberra’s city centre.

Direct domestic services are available from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, along with Gold Coast, Newcastle, Hobart, Perth and Adelaide. Direct seasonal services operate from Cairns, Sunshine Coast, Coffs Harbour, and Darwin.
