Thank You for Making the 49th Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA) Annual Scientific Meeting a Success

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Ōtautahi Christchurch for the 49th Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA) Annual Scientific Meeting, held at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre from 1-4 August 2026.

Under the theme “Ngā Whakapapa Puāwai: Cultivating the Future of Human Genetics in Asia-Pacific”, the meeting brought together researchers, clinicians, laboratory scientists, educators and industry partners from across New Zealand, Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region. Together, we explored the latest advances in human genetics and genomics, celebrated innovation, and strengthened the collaborations that will shape the future of equitable healthcare across our region.

In the spirit of whakapapa, we reflected on the connections between people, places and knowledge, while showcasing outstanding research, clinical practice and technological advancements. The enthusiasm, expertise and generosity of our speakers, presenters, sponsors, exhibitors and delegates created a truly memorable and inspiring meeting.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of HGSA 2026 and look forward to continuing these important conversations and collaborations in the years ahead.
