On behalf of the local organising committee for the 2nd Zero Childhood Cancer National Symposium and the members of the ZERO Network, we express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in the second Zero Childhood Cancer National Symposium, which took place earlier this month in Sydney.
True to the theme of this meeting, "Precision in Action: Collaborations driving cancer breakthroughs", this event was an absolute showcase of the calibre of research, translation and innovation that are being achieved through collaboration at scale.
We were delighted to have 3 international, 10 interstate and 3 local speakers across the broad disciplines of genomics, cancer biology and preclinical modelling, cancer predisposition, immuno-oncology, ethics, legal & social issues and clinical translation, and a consumer panel to close our official programme, bringing the real perspectives of childhood cancer journey to the commitments and progresses across the field.
This year we had a total of 230 delegates, with over 50 abstracts reviewed, 44 posters, 17 oral presentations and 15 rapid-fire presentations. We are proud to have supported early-mid career individuals to attend this meeting by awarding 5 travel scholarships to early-mid career individuals, and 6 cash prizes to exceptional oral, rapid-fire and poster presentations within the Education and Translation categories. Based on these activities, this event has provided approximate 20 hours of education through the formal program and an additional 7 hours of informal scientific exchange & networking through the social functions.
We are extremely grateful to all our speakers and sponsors without whom the meeting would not be possible! Special thanks goes to our:

What is ZERO Childhood Cancer?
The Zero Childhood Cancer Personalised Medicine Program (ZERO) is Australia’s first and most comprehensive precision medicine approach for children with cancer. The basic premise of ZERO is that every child's cancer is unique, just as every child is unique. It is a translational research and clinical program that aims to establish a framework to efficiently identify and recommend personalized therapy and improve prognosis and quality of life for all children diagnosed with cancer. Zero Childhood Cancer is led in partnership by Children’s Cancer Institute and Kids Cancer Centre at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick. The program demonstrates unprecedented national collaboration between all eight paediatric oncology centres in Australia, and 12 leading research institutes nationally and internationally.
