Ed Krumins Young Scientist Award

The Ed Krumins Award is named in honour of Edgars Janis Marks Krumins(02/09/1949 – 23/09/1998) in recognition of his significant and lasting contribution to cytogenetics in Australia. The prize is valued up to$1,500 AUD and is to be used for continuing education.

To be eligible for the award candidates must:

  1. Financial member of ASDG (no waiting periods apply, therefore you can sign up today – click here . To become a member of ASDG you first need to be a member of HGSA).
  2. 10 years or less postgraduate experience in a relevant science field
  3. Not be principal or senior scientist
  4. Be working or studying in the field of genetics  
  5. Have performed a major component of the work presented
  6. Oral presentation to be original work and not be a case study
  7. Not be a previous recipient of the award

ASDG Poster Prize

The ASDG Poster Prize is open to all members of the ASDG presenting a poster at the interim meeting. The recipient of this award will receive registration and dinner at the next interim meeting.

Candidates for this award must have performed a major component of the work presented. Candidates will be expected to give a short 2-minute explanation of their poster and/or be available to answer any questions arising from it.

Early Career Award

The award aims to encourage early career ASDG members to present at the ASDG ISM on an activity contributing to the improvement of diagnostic practice - for example translational research, development of an education program with proven outcomes, bioinformatics pipeline development or improvement, a case audit/series or quality management activity with learnings that improve diagnostic practice.

 The award is valued at AUD$1500, to support ongoing educational activities of the recipient.
